We believe that kids deserve one central location where needed tests and results-oriented treatment can be administered expertly and expeditiously; one central place for long and short-term healing and hope; one place, in other words, that makes the mental, emotional and educational needs of today's kids and their families central to everything it does.
We will meet first with you and your child to obtain your and your child's picture of the issues to be addressed. We will then assess those areas of your child's life, be it academic, emotional, behavioral or relational, that are of concern. Using the information from our assessment, we will assist you and your child or teen in designing a clear plan of intervention. Intervention can involve meetings with your child individually, family therapy, parent/guardian teaching, meetings with school, court, social services personnel, psychiatrist, or a combination of all of the above.
Psychological testing involves the administration of tests of academic ability, achievement, emotions, behavior and relationships in order to obtain an objective and more thorough picture of your child's strengths and weaknesses. These tests provide invaluable information for planning interventions in therapy, at school, and at home. Since tests are constructed based on empirical research, the results are more objective than personal opinion, and/or observation of your child alone. Usually the child is given these tests and parents/guardians and teachers are also given inventories and checklists to complete regarding the child.
